Memories of my brother in law.

Created by David 4 years ago

I first met Tom when he started dating my sister (Margaret) in 1968. he was charming and a perfect gentlemen. I learned he was a farmer and had a wide network of friends. Margaret fell in love with Tom and they married in 1970. Margaret adapted to being a farmers wife superbly and made the farm house a magnificent family home. They had three children Anna, Sarah, and Thomas.
The tragic loss of Margaret and Thomas in 1981 brought out another side in Tom in which he rebuilt his life whilst looking after two girls. This was not easy for Tom or the Girls but demonstrated Tom’s strong ability to adapt and rebuild in very difficult times.

He suffered a second tragedy when he lost the farm in 2006. With true resilience he moved to Nichol End and rebuilt his life. He met Anne and had many wonderful years together travelling to Australia and New Zealand to stay and become involved with the families of his two daughters.

At all times in Tom’s life he was charming, fun to be with, had mischievous streak, excellent entertaining skills with a mastery in cooking and handling a BBQ.

I spoke to him almost every Sunday morning whilst dog walking when we put the world to right. He will be missed.
